Extra activity
Is there any advantage to doing anything other than sitting as regards progress on the programme? Does light activity help ( I am thinking walking, slow jogging, easy bike riding for under an hour) or hinder? In purely health terms, is it better to supplement the programme with such activity. These are two distinct points but obviously related. I am 57 and aside from the lifting, do nothing physically challenging.

I think "active recovery" is ExFizz bullshit. But it won't hurt you to get up off of your ass and do some things outside for a few hours a week. Just don't add to your recovery load.
