I'm a 25 year old guy and I've been going to a gym for about a year. I've been doing the excercises in a random fashion, and thus haven't made much progress, except on the movements I like to do. This is the progress I made in a year:

    Squat: 85kgx10-105kgx5
    Deadlift: 120kgx5-155kgx5 ( with straps )
    Bench press: 55kgx8-70kgx5
    Press: 20kgx8-50kgx4

Those were all achieved in a semi-random fashion, without any sensible linear progression. For the past few months, I've just been going up and down in weight, like workout a bench is 65kgx5, and workout c I'm so messed up I only manage 60kgX5 etc. This is really eating me up and currently the only thing I really look forward to when training is deadlifts and chins ( 'cos I've actually been able to consistently improve in them )

The problem I have with SS is that I'm so weak that if I squat and press first, like I should, I will not be able to use the poundages in deadlift I want to use ( and I know this is just all about my ego ). And I've actually been on SS, for a week. I started squatting with 95kg and by my third workout I was squatting 105 kg. Maybe those jumps were too big, or maybe it's that I subbed the squat for deadlift the next workout, but my progress stopped there.

What do you think I should do? Just do the program ( which I've been too lazy to do uptill now ) , or what? I'm 190cm and 82kg if that matters and I have a hard time gaining any weight.
