I started my first workout yesterday and did

    Squat 135x3x5
    Dead. 225x3x5

I know in the book it says to introduce Power cleans when the Dead lift is established well ahead of the squat and the initial gains start to wane. My question is since my intial workout has the dead lift 90# ahead of the squat. Should i start the power clean now or wait until my squat catches up ? And is this a*typical*initial difference in squat & dead lift? Thank you for your time.

    My stats
    Age 35
    Weight 224. Body fat 24%
    Height 6'2"

Without seeing you, there's not a lot we can say. Maybe you started your squat too light. If you can actually deadlift properly with your back held in extension, then go for the power clean.

I think you are setting up a little too close to the bar. As a result, this is more of a stiff legged deadlift than a normal deadlift. Get the bar over your midfoot. This will drop your butt a little. Then, get very tight and arch your back. Otherwise, I have seen much worse deadlifts. Carry on.
