Honest Answer: Until they reach 12% bodyfat so they have a favorable P ratio when they gain. Knowing this is highly unrealistic from a first cut from the majority of trainees, see below

Realistic Answer: Until you are comfortable with how you look, which will take 2-17 times longer than you think it should.

Well it depends what your goals are, one might ask why you were wanting to cut and go right back into bulking?

However the simple answer is as long as it takes to hit your target weight or bf%

This is a good answer, though I'd say 10-12% for the realistic answer.

So true. So so sad. (though i hope it doesn't go quite to 17x for me as that would be ~10 years (although i'm already at >1.5 years (w/ setbacks) so...)

I thought all i had to lose was 20 lbs. 30lbs later i still have another 10-15 to go. You are gonna have to go farther than you think. I am only intending on hitting 14-15% BF then come back with a slow bulk. Something like 200-300cal surplus/day.

Am there. Astonishing and embarrassing how low my weight has gone still w/o hitting my bodyfat target.
