    skills101 Intermediate Training Log

    Current Body Stats
    5'8'' Male, 190#, 20 years old.

    5RM before SS/GOMAD, BW = 155#, 3/31/2010
    Squat: 200(#)
    Bench Press: 140
    Press: 90
    Deadlift: 235
    Power Clean: 115
    SS Training Log: http://startingstrength.com/resource...ad.php?t=16486

    5RM after SS/GOMAD, BW = 190#, 8/4/2010
    Squat: 300(#)
    Bench Press: 190
    Press: 140
    Deadlift: 375
    Power Clean: 190

    Programming: Texas Method
Sunday (Volume): Squats 5x5, Bench Press/Press 5x5, Power Cleans 5x3
    Tuesday (Recovery): Light Squats 2x5, Bench Press/Press 3x5, Back Extensions 5x10, Chin-Ups - 4 sets
    Thursday (Intensity): Squat 5RM, Bench Press/Press 5RM, Deadlift 5RM

    Goals
    1) General functional strength.
    2) Achieve more respectable numbers so I can recreationally participate in powerlifting competitions. This particularly applies to my lackluster Bench Press.
    3) Look strong.
    4) Grunt a lot. A friend told me it's not okay to grunt until you've started intermediate programming.

The horror begins August 8, 2010.

    "Squats 5x5, Bench Press/Press 5x5, Deadlift 5RM"

5 RM deadlift after 5x5 squat may not be much of a RM

I would switch the clean and deadlifts.

Thanks, this was one of the things that was bothering me. I suppose I like it this way because it helps to even out the Monday and Friday workout length. On paper, that sounds good, but I could always turn the PC's into doubles or reduce the sets if they're too hard to complete on Monday's workout.

When I got stuck on 5x3 PC, I switched to 7x2 on the minute. I noticed a big improvement with this.

If your bench is stuck and it is a goal of yours, find out your weakenss or sticking point and add something to address it on friday. I try to work upper body pulling as much as upper body pressing.

Also, be ready for tuesdays to suck for a while.

Sounds good, I'll switch the PC with DL. God, I'm not looking forward to 15 work sets in one day.

Hey Skills, how do you feel with the TM? I mean the PR your reached for the squat and the volume day, compared to novice?
