    Hello,
I recently opened up a small strength and conditioning gym and I try to implement the principles of the starting strength method with all of my clients. However recently, I have some guys working out at my gym who are either current Crossfitters or wannabe competitive Crossfit games type athletes. Only problem is they weigh maybe 150-175lbs can squat 315 and snatch something like 155. I have tried to convince them that they need to get stronger but they insist that doing 95lb power snatches for 100 reps will magically make them snatch 300lbs like Rich Froning. So i guess my question is this, if i can manage to convince these guys to start an actual strength training program and stop doing there silly crossfit bullshit for a little while, what would be a good "baseline" of strength before they can resume doing there crossfit style training? In other words how strong is necessary to be a highly competitive crossfit games level athlete?

Convince them to run an LP and sacrifice the WODs for about 6 months, add some decent body weight, then they may be power snatching 155, and squatting 315 for fives.

Have they seen the crossfit games? The events are getting heavier and heavier. I'll bet everyone of the top guys can pull 500 and a few can pull 6. If they really wanna get good, they gotta get strong. And be able to walk on their hands. Yep, walking on their hands is a real thing. What. The. Fuck.

I dislike when run of the mill crossfitters use Froening or Kalipa as an example of what crossfit can do. Those guys are freaks of nature. Strong as hell, athletic, and endurance to spare. Not everyone can do that just like everyone can't be whoever the hell the current Mr. Olympia is (I don't follow bodybuilding)

Save yourself the headache and don't try and convince people of anything.

Probably good advice... I know they need to be a hell of a lot stronger; but if they want to pay me to flail around on my pull up bars and do high rep Olympic lifts, then more power to them.
