Should shin splints be treated like any other exercise? What are you talking about?
Hey Rip,
Have you ever dealt with athletes suffering from Shin-Splints?
My 2nd year into American Football and these finally arrived. probably bad practice surface.
anyway, I've searched both Google and Youtube and found millions of exercise for rehab.
my question is: should these be treated like any other exercise?
We got a game Friday morning, should I avoid doing any rehab work during Wed\Thur?
It's not in a terrible condition right now cuz I iced it a lot and rehabbed like crazy.
thanks in advance.

No, I don't know. My lifters don't get shin splints.
Are you doing SS?
How often do you train for football?
How much do you eat?
What do you weigh?
I used to get shin splints bad. I never got them through all of the sports I played but when I started jogging (i know, i know) back 7 years ago at 30 years old - I got them bad.
My chiro showed me something he called 'muscle insertion' or something like that. I know the following pictures are pretty cheesy but anything is worth a shot, right?
Shin Splint Therapy
You're not giving anyone enough information to help you out.
How much and what do you eat?
Detail your training for us: how many hours on your feet, running, lifting, drilling, etc...
My suspicion is that you don't eat enough and are not strong enough, especially for the fast-paced pounding of football.
What about shoes? When I was heavier and running, I experienced terrible shin pain. Switched to Asics gel Kayano shoes and shin pain disappeared. Literally from one workout to the next.
