    This is excellent news!
I hope it means we'll have first one, then several SSG in Germany soon!

Mark, you are scarily productive, competent and driven. I wish you marvelous success, you deserve it.

An interesting concept. While I have a healthy level of skepticism on the potential success, based much more on the fickleness of the public than those running this, this really could be something.

I don't know if you're able/willing to discuss this here, but what kind of numbers do you see for gym limits? Will a gym need to be running at pretty much max capacity to be making money? Is this going to be a franchise setup like Mcdonald's(using this example because their control and support is significant, which is how I see you running things), or more like chain stores where the head office owns things and hire a manager to run it?

I do hope this works. I would have some concerns, but at the same time, that's every new venture.

Godspeed, Rip. I hope this works. Not just for your sake (i.e. money) , but because of the obvious and necessary benefits the world could reap. And the nice thing about the benefits of greater strength is that nobody who doesn't deserve the benefits would get them - because you only get the benefits if you do the fucking work! I just wish it could get to some of the places outside of the big markets, but I understand why/how thats not necessarily business viable at this time.

We also have concerns. That's why we have worked very hard to place the risk on market selection, the sales model, and the operations model, i.e. the things the franchise company is responsible for, so as to expose the franchise owner to the minimum number of variables that are not training-related. Each gym is capped at 100 members, the goal is for each gym to open its doors either at or near 100 members, and the SSCs running the place primarily train the members. If the gym is not running at or near max capacity, it has been placed incorrectly, and our job is to prevent that from happening.

Yeah, but will the gyms give away free donuts and cheese pizza like at Planet Fatness? Okay, this is Starting Strength so it includes a gallon of milk.

Best of luck in any event. Interesting take on limiting to 100 members.

I love this idea and if you can nail down site selection and buildout costs you should do well. Good luck and can’t wait for the south Charlotte location to open!
