We're happy you made it, Karl.
Yesterday, I was dealing with a lot of shit. Stuff in the external world. Putting out fires.
I was out in my garage getting ready to do a set of squats, and suddenly felt a lot different. Here was clarity: a task I could do, one that required purity of will and a fair degree of concentration. I was happy to have a somewhat heavy set of five. The world may go to hell, but I will get under the barbell.
I'm very thankful that I stumbled on that Dan Duane article all those years ago that pointed me here.
We're happy you made it, Karl.
I listened to a Barbell Logic podcast on meditation last week on a long drive out to Phoenix. It discussed what you just clarified for me. Thank you for sharing that important message!
Nice! It makes you live in the moment!
Okay, I waited for this to get to the second page of this board.
Nothin'? I get nothin' for making a philosophy reference on a strength training discussion board on a thread started by Karl Schudt? Come on! I should get, like, three points. Two?
Mark Hurling, are you even out there anymore?
Dang, y'all.
Yeah, I'm still around. Sorry I wasn't paying sufficient attention. Although despite being so German I bleed black and yellow along with red when cut, I am no fan of German philosophers other than Nietzsche. He at least kept it short and sweet. Man and Superman? "That which does not kill me makes me stronger"?
But that Kant guy? As Bugs Bunny so memorably said:
I also dislike German food. It must mean I am a self loathing German. I dunno.
