Deadlift questions
I'm wondering what your thoughts are on these points
1) Double overhand hook grip is the preferred grip, over the alternating grip, because the latter causes torque through the entire spine that can cause injuries.
2) Head should always face where torso is facing, i.e. cervical spine should also be neutral, not just lumbar and thoracic.
Previously I was using alternating grip, but now I'm starting back on the hook grip w/chalk. It's really painful but I'm starting from lightweights and progressing. I was also previously always thrusting my head up and back almost by instinct, because I thought it helped me keep a neutral lower back, but now I'm trying to correct this bad habit...it's tough though, I almost need to paste a "DON'T LOOK UP!" notice on the wall...
Any merits to the above 2 points?

1. The double overhand hook grip is painful, true. I prefer to leave the hook off of the DOG, and use the alternate grip or the hook at workset weights. So I agree with your analysis on this point.
2. I am agreement here also.
