Has anyone else notice a huge increase in the cost of creatine monohydrate? About 10 months ago I purchased 1kg from about $22. Now it's $54. Wow, that's a big jump!

I also get magnesium citrate from the same vendors and their price on that has gone down a dollar. So it's seems to just be the creatine.

Maybe Dr Sullivan's endorsement has caused a run on it, hahaha.

Inflation accounts for a large percentage of the increase in price, but is not the main driving force.
The two precursors used to make creatine monohydrate are sourced from China.
China is still locking down and limiting its exports.
Shipping cost is also higher; the precursors go from rural China to urban China, then for most of the better respected supplement brands, it is shipped to Germany for synthesis and lab analysis. From there, it goes to New Jersey, California or some other shithole for packaging and distribution. Finally, the product, complete with 99.5% purity (the .5% impurities cause side effects and cramps in some people) is shipped to you.

Why don't you just eat ze bugs and be happy? They are high in both protein and creatine.
