No. The kinetic chain is longer when you push it, and therefore produces a better training effect.

Got it.
Do those that do it just not understand strength and conditioning etc?
Very few people understand strength and conditioning.
The prowler is pushed.
I’ve had people tell me it helped them with knee rehab. To be clear, I am not vouching for this. I am relaying this.

Sorry to butt in on this thread.
For the last 12 months or so I have been doing prowler work once a week. 30 yards up and 30 yards back. Pushing outbound and pulling backwards with a strap on the return trip. Am I wasting my efforts with the backward pull? I don't have any leg or knee issues so I think I am doing it for conditioning.
Should I dispense with the backward pulling?
Doesn't matter to me how you do it. Did you understand my argument?
There is actually another purpose to be considered, rehab. Backwards walking/running with resistance has done a lot to rehab my bad knee. I go to a barbell gym with multiple sleds. I would say all the backward sledding is rehab related and the forwards sledding is heavier and strength and conditioning related.
