    • starting strength seminar december 2024
    • starting strength seminar february 2025
    • starting strength seminar april 2025
    Just achieved a goal for my press of 135lbs, 3 sets of 5. I'm 51, 195lbs, 6'1. I lift twice per week (squat, bench + assistance) (DL, press + assistance).
    Rightly or wrongly, I'm thinking of keeping my press at 135 and adding reps. Bill Pearl influence from the late eighties I guess.
    What sort of rep/ set scheme would be advised going forward?
    Feel free to advise me if this is foolish thinking at any point.

    I don't know? Try for 6? If you can only get 5 at 135 then you don't really have many options except for doing sets of 5? You could get some more volume/density/speed by doing like 12x2 with 135, but I'm not sure that is gonna take your 135x5 to 135x10. Getting stronger generally implies adding weight to the bar at some point.
