Hi, Andy if I were to use an 852 rep cycle for S&M over 40 how what would I use for light day?

A number of options. Doesn't matter that much. A few light sets of 5, some lighter faster 3s, some lighter 8s. It's a light day, don't stress about it.

thank you Andy, also after a few cycles if I wanted to add additional assistance for hypertrophy work, such as additional upper back work, can it be put in Deadlift day to off set the amount of pressing?

One last question on SM after 40, in the program it states you can change to Bench focus, would that be adding Light Bench 5x3 instead of Close Grip on heavy Press day?

Not necessarily. I like doing heavy close grips better than just "light bench".
