LP run following time off
Hey Andy,
I have a question I've been ruminating on for a bit for you.
How long should an intermediate trainee stick to a run of LP when coming back from an extended period of time off, be it from injury or other life issues, before they move back into more advanced programming?
I'm not really looking for a time frame here but more of what to look for in regards to training days.
I always seem to stick to with an LP for too long, "spinning my wheels" so to speak, when this happens to me. What signals a change is needed?
I thought this might help out others here as well.

The main factor is how much time was taken off and how much detraining has occurred? It may be equally important to consider how advanced the trainee was when he/she took the time off.
In general, I am not a huge fan of re-running an extended LP for any intermediate or advanced trainee who has come back off of a layoff.
This is actually a great topic to discuss, the problem is of course that the answer always goes back to......."Well, it depends."
So let's get specific.....without killing me with data - how long have you been off? Do you know how much your lifts have dropped off? How were you programming when you stopped training?
