    Default Dead Lift form check please

    • starting strength seminar august 2024
    • starting strength seminar october 2024
    • starting strength seminar december 2024
    Have been lifting for a few years, but have recently started again in my home gym. I’m 76 kg and am 50 years old am currently lifting 5 x 5 x 85 kg

    Just worried my back is too horizontal?

    Why are you doing 5x5 for deadlift?

    These look pretty good.

    A few things to fix:
    1) Rock back a little. Your shoulders are too far in front of the bar. They should just be a little in front of the bar.
    2) Get your chin down. Look with your eyes, not your head.
    3) Get your knees apart a bit, and then set your back really hard. Make a smiley face with your spine.

    Why are you doing 5x5 for deadlift? - So I do 2 * 8 warmup ups, eg 1 set @ 40Kg and then 1 @ 60Kg and then the 5 work sets. Too much? I do have Practical Programming on it's way

    As to the points you raise I will factor those in next Tuesday.

    I can only do Tues and Thursday strength as cycling is my main sport and I cannot do more than a total of 5 seasons a week.

    You are not doing the program. Read the book when it gets there.
