Rip, sorry to jump on this thread, but my question is also related to chinups.
I think you said somewhere, I cannot find where, that is not recommended to do heavy chinups the day before bench press because it affects it. Is that correct? If yes, then, how it affects it?
It makes the upper-body muscles tired, some of the ones you're benching with.
