Geezers: Andy's Strength/Mass over 40 on 3 Day Schedule
68yo geezer here who has discovered the beauty of Program 4B, p 215, The Barbell Prescription. Squatting 3X/2 weeks and Dead lifting 3X/4 weeks is the bee's knees. But, now I want to use SM>40 on this 3X/2 week template. So, if you have done, or are doing, what I have described...
Is your light squat day as prescribed, or did you adjust the volume/intensity just a skosh, given the lengthened "week?" Instead of 5x3x90%, say, 4x3x95%, or something.
Did you make progress on your chins by doing them 3X/4 weeks?
On press days, instead of assistance, did anyone just add one or two back off sets? If so, how did that work out for you? I'm lazy; I would prefer to remain at the rack and do some back offs.
Thanks.

This is interesting. But dont you DL just as much as you squat in 4B?

Good catch.
I deviate from 4B by dead lifting, with a back off set, every other lower body day.

Gotcha. I am looking into this workout for squats and deads only. I am only 44 but I have lower body recovery issues as a result of career-required running 2-3 times a week. Considering sticking with normal upper body LP.
