I'd say at least 8 weeks. Knee wraps can take a little while to get used to, in particular learning how to wrap them and how to do it tightly. You'll also need to check that you can hit depth with them. Just use them for heavy set (I'd do 3 reps or less, since it will cut off the blood flow which makes 5s tough).
For non-equipped lifting it's better to get a wrap that has a bit more bounce. The Metal Triple Black line is a great 1st wrap, or else something like the Titan RPM.
