    Default Weight class recommendation?

    • starting strength seminar august 2024
    • starting strength seminar october 2024
    • starting strength seminar december 2024
    Age 29, height 5'9", 102kg, bf 14.5% navy method (18.5" neck, 36" waist), squat 575 w/o wraps.

Jordan, which option would you recommend for my first year competing please?

    1) Compete at 100kg in WDFPA on 24th Jan and then again at 100kg on 28th March.

    2) Compete at 105kg in IPF on 1st Feb and then again at 105kg on 15th August.

I'm thinking 2 because, despite my best persuasive efforts, my wife isn't happy about me paying for you to help me do 1 properly (got 4 kids - always tons of stuff to buy), the competition is tougher in 2, and 100kg is too light for my height.

    Thanks.

Number 2, for sure- as a 105kg. Dropping to 93kg's would be tough before Feb 1st for you. It could be done, but you might be too lean to be your strongest too. I think getting closer to 110 and then competing at 105 is probably about right for you.

Got it - thanks. Annoyingly, the 1st Feb meet sold out 2 weeks early. Should I gain about 1kg per month until July?

Probably there or a bit more to cut a bit in July and then cruise into the meet in August.
