“Training is more productive if it remains as simple and straightforward as possible, and this means the absolute least amount of deviation possible from the task of setting new PRs as often as possible.”

This simple statement kills RPE stone dead, and pretty much any other contention. Brilliant Rip!

As I have said many times, RPE is marketing, not training.

RPE is what I do when I'm taking a break from training.
Training is taxing mentally, physically and socially...RPE is a break from all of it, when needed.
For example, when the summer hits and I want to drink beers in the sun all day and grill out I use RPE.
I don't want to stop lifting but I'm definitely not going to train....that's were RPE comes in.
I'll lose strength but it will be easier to ramp back up when I do start training again and I wont feel like a loser for not doing anything.

Training gets the 5th rep of 350 up.
RPE has you calling it a day on the 2nd rep and being cool with it.

Rip is right. Some strong guys that followed a training program just made that shit up for dollars.
