***I am on a very tight budget and cannot afford the Power Cage that Rip advertises for the Brown Bros. welding company.***
To the more experienced lifters on this forum, could you please point out any reasons as to why the following rack being sold on Amazon would be a bad decision?

From the product description and customer reviews, it sounds like it would be sufficient for a novice doing the SS LP (e.g. "made of heavy duty 12 gauge steel - capacity 800 lbs"). However, I admit that I do not have much experience with evaluating this type of equipment.
Thank you,
Kenny

I would suggest buying directly from Titan Distributors:

It's cheaper, the shipping is still free, and they shipped mine super fast to MD. I got it the 2nd business day, but they are in either PA or NJ, if I recall, so not too far from me.
The only thing I don't like about this rack is the knurling on the pull up bar. It's way too smooth and painted with glossy paint. I filed it down, sanded it, and painted it with textured spray paint (this stuff). With that modification, it's absolutely perfect.
Yes, thank you for the information about the Titan cage. I was basically just looking to confirm that power cages in this "class" (i.e. similar specifications) were sufficient. But I do agree that the Titan cage looks like a great deal. Thanks again!
Have you considered finding a rack on Craigslist until you can get the rack you want? You can probably find a pretty good one to get you started. You can probably resale a used rack for your purchase price when you decide and can afford what you want permanently. Just a thought.
The rack is 12 gauge (I wouldn't get anything less than 11 gauge personally). The super budget racks usually have pretty mediocre welds.
Check out Craig's List, for sure. I've picked up and sold several commercial racks and benches off of there.
Craislist is where the magic happens.
Craigslist is a great option for a sturdier rack if you can be patient. I have the atlas-branded version originally linked to. I've done rack pulls up to 485 on it, and squats up to 395. I had my fabricator friend make some brackets so I could screw it down to the platform. I couldn't be happier with it. Then again I'll probably never squat 500.
In the Amazon "Customer Questions and Answers" section for the Titan power cage being discussed in this thread (http://www.amazon.com/Whats-spacing-...sin=B00GHNLK9E), customers said that the measurement from center to center ranges from 2.0 inches to 2.25 inches.
