Default Trouble sleeping on deadlift days

    Hey,

I am 5'7 weigh 173lb, 10-11% body fat, and have been doing SS for about 9 weeks now, I had a half week rest a few weeks ago as I went on holiday missed 2 work outs other than that been relatively consistent.

I started at 200lb, and have been slowly working my way up. I am currently at 345lb and now every DL 1x5 is now a new PR.

I train usually at lunch times 12.30 to 13:30, and I specifically try to get to bed at a decent time so I can get 8 hours sleep.

But I find that I have this "buzz" going down the back of my hammies and glutes, while I am lying there which I think is my CNS being over activated. I have trouble sleeping, and once I get to sleep I wake up multiple times in the night.

Am I over trained, deload required?

    Any advice?

    Thanks in advance,
    Oli

Try taking some magnesium. It helps relax muscles and many people are deficient in it. Take one of the well-absorbed salts an hour before bedtime. Such as Magnesium chelate or Magnesium Aspartate (Usually found in ZMA). If that doesn't work it might be that you're not eating enough, although consistend LP suggests you're good on that point.

    Magnesium always helps me too.

Yeah, Natural Calm has helped me a lot with this.

An epsom salt bath is nice (magnesium sulfate), but I suspect it's just a self-indulgent way to absorb the magnesium. Popping a couple ZMA capsules is faster.

My problem with deadlifting is that it makes me sleepy. I arrange my workouts so that deadlift day falls on a weekend because I can't write software for shit after deadlifting. In fact, I think I'll go take a nap now...
