Hey, I have a problem with knowing exactly how deep im getting on my squats and wonderd if anybody had any tips on some que's I can look out for or tell myself.

My gym has a shitty squat rack and somtimes Im worried about knocking the bars ( wich are not adjustible) and having to dump the load. It also has a mirror facing you in the rack, but somtimes when your trying to squat a heavy payload its hard to gauge. I also dont want to waste my time with shitty half reps.

Also, I am 5'5 - 205 lbs and built like a fire hydrant...or one of those small hotel fridge's...wich just means stubby.

Any help at all is much appriciated and would be great..thanks.

Film it and see it for yourself.

Yeah, you really have to film it.

Get a straw, mount it somehow at the appropiate height when your ass hits it you'll know but you'll be better off with filming it

You should descend, arching your back hard, and shoving your knees out, until you feel a stretch in your hammies/adductors, and use that stretch to bounce back up. This way, you're going as deep as possible anyway.

Should you always feel a stretch?

I cant ever remember feeling a stretch, and I do go down parallel/below. Ive always wondered if you were meant to feel something, with the whole stretch reflex deal. Next time I squat Ill try and take notice if I feel a stretch, pretty sure I dont, but I know Ive never really felt a "bounce" effect.

Maybe you aren't tight enough at the bottom?
