An acquaintance of mine lost both legs during a tour of Afghanistan. He took gold at Powerlifting in the Invictus Games, top man, awesome inspiration.
Anyone I see trying to do more than last week.
That danish 92 year old that continued to lift after having been dead for 11 minutes impressed the hell outta me.
Ben Rice, really young guy who started like everyone else. He just managed to stick with it for a very long time and built himself up to be a great competitor. He is very humble and balances school and lifting among other things. Just kinda inspiring that he gets his work in while managing a life. He doesnt seem larger than life like most top competitors.
I have a friend who is really athletic who tells me in her 20s her max squat was 190lbs. So here I am in my 50s, I was never athletic, and I'm closing in on 190lbs. I plan to surpass that if at all possible. I'm not sure who is more inspiring though. Is it her because I'm trying to beat her 20+ year old self or is it me because I'm amazed I can do it?
Otherwise, all the women who lift are definitely inspiring to me in the more traditional sense.
