    Hello Rip,

My wife is going to have hip replacement surgery (right side) sometime in the next week or two. We have also registered for Sully's Squat Training Camp for May 12th. Assuming a successful surgery, do you think May 12th is a viable deadline whereby my wife would be able to fully participate in the camp?

She is 5'6 / ~175 / 59yo and hit the following 1RM-PR's in Dec 2017: SQ=210 DL=250 OP=81 BP=120 They're probably a bit lower thanks to a 2-week bout with the flu and a recent work schedule change. She's just now getting back into a consistent training routine.

Thank you in advance for your time, sir!

Depending on her pain tolerance, she can participate at some level in the camp. Sully can manage this for you. Good luck with her new hip. She'll be pleased with it.

If she's cleared for physical activity by then--and she should be--we'll make it work.

Well, she was in a motorcycle crash back in 2010 where she cracked a few ribs, fractured her collar bone, punctured a lung, and cracked her pelvis (non-weight bearing area). Her first words upon regaining consciousness were literally, "Owwwwwwwwwww.....How's my bike?".

She recovered pretty quickly; a few days in intensive care and then another week in the hospital. Her only complaint for the next year was that in certain positions she felt a sharp, intense stabbing pain in her right scapula. Turned out that she had punched a hole in it the size of half-dollar when she had crashed and now some of her muscle tissue was getting caught inside. Another surgery "plugged" the hole with a cadaver bone.

While she's not looking forward to the process of surgery/recovery; I suspect this experience will pale compared to the above (hopefully). And she IS looking forward to better mechanics, hip-wise!

Sounds great, Sully! Thank you for that! Hopefully, she'll get in as quickly as they say and start healing. We missed out on your last training camp and are looking forward to this one!

Maybe. They'll have her up walking that day unless there were problems. We'll see about the squats.

This is like an alternate reality where Spock has a goatee. Most of the knee/hip replacements I see fight with the PT and don't want to do anything because they hurt. She's already way ahead of these guys.

I suspect she is part Kryptonian.
