Thanks for SS...what next?
Rip,
Thanks for SS, as I highlighted in another thread I started SS after a 6 months layoff with no weightlifting that had been preceded by an extended period of reduced activity due to injury.
In the 8 weeks of SS I have either matched my max from a year ago or surpassed them.
Squat x5 - 250>>>365...equal to year ago
Bench x5 - 205>>>260...35 pounds higher than year ago
Dead x5 - 240>>>405...equal to year ago
Press x5 - 135>>>190...year ago 1RM was 180
Power Clean x5 - 135>>>190...year ago 1RM was 185
Currently 5' 11" and 255...weighed 250 when I started the program, year ago weight was 240 -245.
I would like to drop weight and try to maintain the strength gains I've made and then go through another round of SS. On the board I've read comments by you suggesting CrossFit and Zone as a good way to lose weight and get strong as well as SS and Paleo. If my long term goal is continued strength gains, but a body weight of 220 - 230, is there one way better than other?
Thanks,
Sean

In your situation, it might be time to consult one of the more diet-oriented sources that are highly regarded here, like www.bodyrecomposition.com. Lyle specializes in this sort of thing.

I second the idea to consult lyle mcdonald's work. His books are incredibly useful. If you want damn impressive results, but a fairly strict diet, I would recommend "The Ultimate Diet 2.0". If you are more into a longer or more reasonable thing, go for "The Guide to Flexible Dieting".
