OK, evidently I need a pair of weightlifting shoes to squat properly. I've had no luck without them, as evidenced here https://startingstrength.com/resourc...orm-check.html

I've never owned a pair and don't feel like I can buy one off the internet wisely. I want to try them on and maybe do a bodyweight squat in them to see if they seem to do anything.

There are outlet malls with Adidas stores about 2 hours from my home. Will those typically carry their weightlifting shoes?

The Adidas outlet near Gettysburg, PA. does not carry lifting shoes.

Thanks. It appears noplace around here sells weightlifing shoes.

Just bought a pair of Adidas Powerlift 3.1's from Rogue (on sale due to butt-ugly color). Hoping they fit and work...

I haven't worn that particular shoe, but I can tell you that weightlifting shoes make a difference. You'll feel so much more stable in them.

Adam, you have other issues to work on from Skillin's comments in that other thread. Proper equipment is proper equipment, but don't neglect the form corrections that were discussed. Don't major in the minors.

Yeah, I know i have a lot to work on... I'm going to try again tomorrow - still not much luck with squats. I did over 100 empty-bar squats yesterday and only barely made it to what I think would be adequate depth (even then not sure)... Getting frustrated...

I'm going to try again today but put some box-squat like pads behind me so I can gauge depth better while squatting.

The good news is I have time - not starting NLP until I lose some more weight, giving me a month or two to work on just form.

It wasn't a plan - it was just me getting it wrong, watching the film, knowing I got it wrong, adjusting feet, repeat... Again, and again, and again, hoping some foot an knee combo would work...

    I'll figure it out...
