Sounds to me that he was mentioning the same elbows up cue that Rip uses. I dont really like the cue for newbs who dont have a coach because it often makes them over rotate their humerus's, with elbows WAY TOO HIGH, which destabilises not only the shoulder but the whole "shelf".
If a lifter definitely has their shoulders pulled back and DOWN in a strong solid position, then the elbows up cue can be appropriate.
