Default Thoughts on what I should do? (fucked up my 5x5 day)

I'm on TM right now, and yesterday was my 5x5 day.

Due to poor nutrition, even the warmups were heavy for me, and I grinded out 255lbs for 5/5/3 before just quitting.

Should I just wait until next Friday to attempt it again? It would feel like a waste of a week to me. I'm pissed at myself and really want to try again tomorrow, even though that would fuck up my scheduling (I do Friday, Sunday, Tuesday instead of MWF).

What do you guys think? Has this ever happened to any of you?

i would have just done a few more sets with less weight (backoff sets ftw).

that said, you'll still probably be able to PR on your intensity day as long as you eat and sleep from now till then.

    what is your height/weight?

Actually I thought about doing backoff sets, but I wanted to leave open the option of returning tomorrow and doing the 5x5 lol.

So you think I should just skip it and go for a PR anyways? I don't think I can set a new PR without having done something on my volume day though.

I'm 5'8" at 163lbs and putting on weight.

you warmed up and completed almost 3x5x255. you didn't just sit at home.

but mainly you're dwelling on something that is basically meaningless in the big picture. it's one week, one semi-missed workout, one intensity day that might not be a PR. try to PR this week. if you don't, oh noes, do it next week.

I don't think 255lbs 3x5 will be enough stress for me to set a PR, seeing as how I have done 265lbs 3x5 before on SS and am stronger now than I was at the end of SS.

Yes I guess that is true, but I figured it would be worth asking to see if anyone has been in a similar situation before and finding out what he did, what worked, and what did not.

Well, the first thing I'd say is, uh, dude, 255 is way too early to be doing TM unless you're 5' tall and weigh appropriately. You probably have very poor nutrition and need to eat lots more in general if you're on the TM at at 255# squat. Unless you're a woman, in which case, awesome, rock on. Anyway. No, don't do the volume day tomorrow, that'll mess you up. You might still hit your intensity day Friday. Yeah, you bunged up your week a little.

I actually thought I was doing decently squatting 255lbs 5x5 @ 163lbs. Zach is squatting 320lbs 5x5 @ 242lbs, so that seems about right imo. It is true that I should eat more though lol.

Squatting 255 is "decent" at 163. How tall are you? Odds are, you could productively use at least 20# more on your frame.

May I ask what your squat and bodyweight were when you stopped doing SS?
