We thought you were coming. You aren't riding down with Bill Brownley, the head instigator?

Its about time you and me met face to face, how about a concession and a free flight into Dallas. They tell me Texas is nearly as big as the Northern Territory.

Well better start sinking a few bores. Got to go deep to get that good water.

Ah yes I see Wichita is not near a major aquifer. Well to drought proof some of our towns we have had to run pipelines from major water supplies and sink more bores, but as you draw off more underground water the levels drop. The State governments decided to put in De-desalination plants in the big coastal cities at a cost of billions when the experts said there would be no more rain, now there defunct and the dams have overflowed. But all new homes must now fit rain tanks anyway. And we still have water restrictions in place even though we have plenty of water at the moment.

However we have just had some of the heaviest rain for a decade (after a severe drought we got floods of biblical proportion). Although its a bit dry this year and the crops are dying again.
Water is a big deal here in Australia that is why it is call the "Land of drought and flooding rains". We get extremes of both. Texas looks like it has the same problems. Is there any thing I can do?
