    Default Felt a lower back tweak at bottom of the squat

    At the bottom of rep four of my first work set I felt a slight tweak in my lower back and decided to stop lifting. I had done something similar a year ago on a deadlift and so I want to be extra careful. This time doesn't feel as bad as my experience a year ago.

    Last time, I was off for about six weeks and went on the SS novice program starting off pretty low.

    Should I follow the same recovery plan or does anyone advise something better where I won't lose as much progress?

    Not enough information here, but look up Starr Rehab. If it's not bad enough for a hospital trip you should conceivably be able to resume fairly quickly. And get your technique checked on the coaches forum.

    I believe part of it was that I felt a little tired and may have gotten a little lazy and let the lower back slip (butt wink?) and felt that little tweak. This happened this morning and right now the area is sore and there is a dull pain when I bend over to pick something up off the floor or when I start to sit. Is that information helpful? I don't think I need to go to the hospital, or at least I didn't last time.

    I think Starr rehab is for muscle belly tears or strains only.

    Starr Rehab began as back rehab. Bill had a shitty back and found doing 25 reps of deadlifts at 95lbs made it feel better. I also have a shitty back and have done this to fix back tweaks. It works very well and very quickly.

    NOTE: It relies on perfect form. Get your squat and deadlift technique checked by a real coach. I was only able to effectively fix my back once I went to a seminar and got coached for real.

    Should I still do full weight presses or is that too much of a load?
