If your 3x5 is 100lb, increasing by 20 is a lot.
If it's 400, it's not (comparatively).
I am using the advanced novice template, MWF. About every other week I do a 5RM on Friday. This helps me "put a marker" out well ahead of my 3x5, which helps me mentally during my Monday and Friday standard LP.
To determine my 5RM, I typically take my 3x5 weight from Monday and add 20. Would it be better to base my 5RM off of a percentage of my 3x5?
From the TM template I see 5RMs in the ballpark of 112% 5x5. Anyone have advice on a 3x5 RM calc?
For reference, Monday was a 3x5 @275, and my 5rm today was 295 (107% of my 3x5). This felt to be in the ballpark.
Appreciate your thoughts.

It depends on where you are at in the cycle. Since you have advanced novice I would assume you are close to stalling on lifts. If your rests are adequate, then the 3x5 amounts should be close to your 5rm.
