    Coach Rip-

I have a 13 y.o. (will turn 14 in May) boy that began focused strength training 2 months ago. He is a good athlete that participates in 3 sports year round. We just started with some very basic lifts and made sure his technique was sound. He is familiar with all the lifts in SS program. Because he is still growing and his connective tissues are growing as well, do you recommend any modifications to the SS program for a youth/novice such as this (i.e. decreased load and/or increased reps)?

    Thank you in advance.

I'd imagine this has been asked a lot over the years, so it ended up in Repetitive Inquiries.

It's usually easier/more productive to search the site w/ google, like:

    site:startingstrength.com "13 year old"
    site:startingstrength.com "tanner stage"

instead of using the forum search tools.
