    Default Prowler project $100

I designed a prowler and i'm going to build myself one. The problem I have is that my house is a few hundred meter from the closest tarmac. So I designed a prowler that can be used as a wheelbarrow. That way I use it as a wheelbarrow to get to the road. Put the rods in the prowler position and go.

Throwing this out here in case anyone would like to build him/herself one. Cost of the material including the wheel is around €70,- or $100,- so its nice and cheap as wel.

    Could provide technical drawings.

    Cheers

It looks like it'd be unbalanced. How much would you have to load it before it doesn't tilt on to the wheel when you push it?

Most of the load in on the rear. Sure pushing against it wil transfer some of the weight to the weel. But thats easily overcome by throwing on another plate.

That was the idea actually. I failed to explain that. The center load point is mainly ment for wheelbarrow style.
Thanx for the heads up. I will give it some thought.

Actually your and Nick's post made me rethink this thing. The solution is realy quite simple. I just added a front skid. When prowling its on the skids. If you lift it wheelbarrow style the front skid releases. Thanks for the imput.

This was my concern, and that simple solution makes perfect sense.

Actually, the only other concern would be whether or not it would be just as much of a workout, if not more, to lift and roll it as it would to push it. Even though the wheel makes it easier, it's still a lot to lift and hold while rolling.

I did the math on that. If you load the weight on the center pin it should be ok. The reduction factor is ~3. So if you load it up with 6plates = 120 kg the load on your hands will be only 40kg. Should be very doable.

Also i was counting on getting an additional workout from it. Wheelbarrow to the road = warm up. Prowling = workout. Wheelbarrow it back home = finisher/killer

I'll upload the drawings when ready. Little bit busy right now

I very much like the design. I've thought about building one before, and also a yoke, but The true cost, for those without a home gym already, is in the plates, not the prowler.
