    Default 2% Milk

My good hearted wife went out and bought me 3 gallons of milk. Only problem is that it's 2%. Should I just suck it up, or is it worth exchanging for the usual whole milk?

As opposed to throwing it away? I suppose I'd just drink the nasty shit and get better milk next time.

    Mark,

My tire was flat when I went outside this morning to leave for work. Should I change the tire or drive on the flat one all week?

We don't waste food in this household. What kind of ungreatful, spoiled bastard do you think I am?

Thank you very much for your help!

On a similar note, if I'm stuck with 2% milk long term (I get milk from my cafeteria in college and would rather not have to pay extra for whole milk since I already pay for a meal plan), would 20 cups a day be better to make up for the lost calories?

Lost calories? I think I just answered my own question.

Just find the 2% fat equivalent in other stuff. (2% of ~4l = 80ml).

Fish oil seems the obvious suggestion to give more fish derived Omega 3 (flax seed stuff doesn't have the anti-inflammatory benefits).

Or yeah, get your calories elsewhere. The advantage of 2% milk? By volume it has more protein.

What kind of dumbass college doesn't offer whole milk to it's students?

    I would complain...or find a new college.

1 cup of 2% milk: 8g of protein.

1 cup of whole milk: 8g of protein.

The difference between the amounts of protein in whole milk and 2% milk is very, very small. I think it's only like 0.2g per 100ml.

Anyway, I much prefer 2% milk since I don't seem to break out when drinking it and I digest it much better, I feel.

The reports on protein content in different 'flavors' of milk seem to vary a lot. Alta Dena, a producer here in Southern California, reports the highest protein content in its 1% milk: http://www.altadenadairy.com/product...cent-milk.html 11g protein per cup looks like a pretty significant advantage. I'm not sure whether I believe it though!
