First Andy, thanks for all the excellent articles, videos, and advice your provide.

47yo male, 196 lbs, intermediate progress, 2 years training

After failing to make progress on a 3 day routine, I started using the TM 4 day split, outlined in PPST3, with a heavy lift and a volume lift each day. I'm making continuous progress on my bench and press, and acceptable progress with my deadlift, as long as I accept it may take 2 weeks to hit each new PR for 5 reps. I had been stuck on my squat with very slow progress, but have make 3 weeks of solid progress using the setup below. I seem to recover quickly with upper body work, and have a much harder time handling high volume on the squat. So, I can handle TM intensity for upper body but not lower. Does this model seem reasonable?

    Monday
    Bench 1x3-5
    Press 5x5 sets across
    LTE

    Tuesday
Squat singles to 1x3-5, then backoff 2x5 at -10%
    SLDL 2x5-8
    Row

    Thursday
    Press 1x3-5
    Bench 5x5 sets across
    Dips

    Friday
    Deadlift 1x3-5
Squat Starr 5x5 method of ascending sets up to the back off set weight from Tuesday

    That will probably work fine.
