    Default Lipomas associated with lifting?

I recently found a lipoma on my upper left thigh – right where the bar ends up in a deadlift.

I figure it's just a coincidence, but have you seen or heard of them showing up in spots that are right under the bar?

No association that I know of.

Got one at the intersection of the taint and the left Glute. I'm thinking it came from seating a slightly fat, short 190 lber on a small bike seat for long distances. Are you hitching your dreads at the top? ;-)

How bad could it be? At least it wasn't ballage that was affected.

Not yet, but if this thing gets big enough I may hang the bar off of it if my grip starts to slip.

I'd have the fucker chopped out before you get a hematoma on it.

You can get them lipo'd too. Much quicker and less soreness after. Had one on my trap for years.

    Rip pretty much covered it:

No association with lifting/pressure etc. They are random and people who have a tendency to form them can form them anywhere.

Take it out if it bothers you. If not, leave it.

Lipomas can be weird. Some appear and never grow, but some can just keep on growing. Removal is optional and they usually don't come back, but it's considered a cosmetic surgery. If it's not bothering you and it's not growing, just leave it alone. If it's in a place that's bothersome (I'd consider the taint an area with a high likelihood of being bothersome) or subject to frequent trauma (barbell hitting it), then get it removed. Of course, you will trade the lipoma for a scar, so there's that. Might want to have someone look at it to confirm that it actually is a lipoma before you proceed to ignore it indefinitely ...

Bad thing is that you can't use Arnold's line...("it's not a tuma!") because it is a tumor...(don't worry, it's benign).

Nic, unfortunately I have some experience with lipomas. I've always had a few, but I discovered a bunch more after putting on 30+lbs from my linear progression. They were always there, but the extra mass acted to push them closer to the surface. Have you gained much weight, recently?
Definitely look into getting it cut out, especially if it's in a place you're making consistent contact with. I had four taken out. It's refreshing!
