Hi Starting Strength Forum staff and Mr. Mark Rippetoe,
Thank you if you have the patience to read my thread and give me some advice.
I am a lifter from China and I want to thank you for writing SS and Practical Programing. After reading both, I'd recommended them to several of my friends.
I've been doing Starting Strength Novice Linear Program for 6 weeks. Actually, I've had some lifting experience before. I've been going to the gym regularly since the February of 2019 but wasn't actually training systematically. I decided to do SS NLP seriously after not working out for 7 months because of gym close down. After 6 weeks of SS NLP, my numbers are:
Age:25
Height:170cm (5'7'')
Weight:80kg (176lbs)
Squat 127.5kg(281 lbs.) 1*5 reps (I have to use back-off sets for squats)
Bench Press 83.5kg(184lbs) 3*5 reps (this felt easy)
Press 50kg (110lbs) 3*5 (Should have more reps in the tank)
Deadlift 137.5kg(303lbs) 1*5 (Grindy as hell!)
So I just want to consult Mr. Mark Rippetoe and other SS coaches, how should I adjust my programming? Should I extend my NLP for a few weeks or transition to TM?
You should run out the NLP for each of the lifts. They won't all end at the same time. In terms of the SQ and DL, those are a bit low for someone your age. Are you eating enough, have you gotten form checks on those lifts, have you read The First Three Questions | Mark Rippetoe ?
