    EDIT
did another set, trying to get my knees a bit more forward and going lower. 3rd rep was really bad.

Started out at questionable depth and got worse from there. Reason you're squatting in socks? You could get the knees a smidge further forward, and get them there more quickly.

socks: shoes met an untimely death. proper weightlifting shoes are on the way. socks keep my left achilles warm and feeling good when it's cool/cold out (chilly in the basement today)

i did another set, vid above in the first post... trying to get more depth and getting the knees further forward (a lot harder than i'd think it would be). the third rep sucked for sure.

Shove the knees OUT more. Way more. More than you think you can. Now they're sliding forward a bit at the bottom, but that might fix the problem. Still not sure on depth on the borderline reps. Your dark clothing is partly to blame for making it hard. But I suspect they're a shade high.

did one more set, tried adding some lighting....
shoving knees out to what feels like as far as they'll possibly go (which i know doesn't mean that's as far as they'll really go). i'll work on that more.
i'm very grateful for your input! thank you!

i totally feel like i could keep doing sets, but looking at a couple of those reps, i wouldn't be getting anything productive done if i kept it up. this was the 7th set of the evening... pretty damn fun, though

edit: i'll get some lighter clothing to make future technique requests more easily seen.
    thanks again!

You're getting somewhere now. Get some rest and come back at it in a couple days when you're fresh.
