I work out at a YMCA that "frowns" on the use of chalk. I normally use it on my bench sets and my deadlifts/PCleans as I'm a very sweaty guy. I got sick of getting shit for using my chalk (even though I cleaned it up, they didn't like the white handprints it left on the urethane encased plates).
So I got an EcoBall. I bought this one:

I wanted to give it a few workouts before I commented on it's effectiveness. And I must say, it's pretty damned close to regular chalk. I didn't notice a difference between deadlift sessions even with an increase in weight.
If your gym doesn't allow chalk, skip the liquid stuff and grab one.
