Unfortunate. Why not just inspect equipment?
It seems the case that for every two steps forward powerlifting takes, somebody has to drag it back one step.
The IPF have now decided that you can only wear belts if the makers cough up the $$$

I wouldn't give titan a dime of my money, not for all the whiskey in Walmart. There's bad customer service, and titan is an example of an outright online thievery.
They accepted a cancellation of an order, and didn't bother refund the money, despite multiple reminders. I wouldn't recommend giving them any money.
Just another example of why Powerlifting will never be in the Olympics.
I get the reasoning behind it, but it still seems like a poor way to implement it.
Senseless, they're screwing themselves. What can a "non-approved" belt do that an "approved" belt can't?
IPF zealots are deluded statist sycophants.
From what I gather it isn't about non-standard belts being used (which could be solved by inspection). The issue apparently is with belts with logos from companies that don't pay the IPF being used in competitions. How the rule will be applied at regional and national meets isn't clear yet (or how you apply it to belts with no logos). There were a number of lifters with best belts (and a Norwegian equivalent) who will probably test the rules.
This is definitely unfortunate. It is completely unreasonable for an organization to force lifters to buy a belt from a specific company.
There is a petition going around: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/i...-add-belts-to/
