For someone who constantly seems to shift weight onto their toes when squatting, and who walks a little knock-kneed in general, would this be a good/helpful idea? I've started wondering if I'd benefit from these in everyday life, which also made me wonder whether that would cary over to the gym.

    Hi Danny,

I have flat foot and use supports during my day to day. When I bought my lifting shoes it seemed natural to me to put the supports also for training. They certainly don't bother me and I think they have helped me avoid knee caving during my low bar squats. I just had to buy my shoes one half size larger than my feet length would require.

    Hope this helps.

To give you a contrary view,
I run in inserts to avoid injury and tried squatting with and without them. I saw no change as my squat shoes support me properly and keeping my knees out puts my feet and ankles in the proper position. Depending on the model, they can also introduce cushion which you want to avoid.

I have very high arches and my left foot gets tired easily nowadays. I put arches in my lifting shoes and strap them up pretty tight. It seems to help. But the supports do seem to want to move around more in the lifting shoe than in my other shoes, so I have to strap up and have laces tied up pretty tight.

    the supports do help.

I would just give it a try. In everyday life sneakers first, then try them in your weightlifting shoes
