Default Assistance work on the Texas Method

Would it be better to add an assistance work day after intensity day (I can't add it between volume and recovery) or split the assistance work among the 3 days evenly?

I want to bring up some weak points and make myself more well rounded so I plan to add in some isolation work for arms, shoulders, traps, and lats.

    Thanks.

What's your current setup and what kind of assistance are you wanting to add?

Texas Method is hard enough. If you want to do lots of assistance stuff/weak point work, my first inclination is to tell you to pick a more conducive program.

This is my base program (since Im a powerlifter I don't rotate press/bench)

    Sunday: Volume
    Squat 3x5 @ 80-90% of 5rm
    Bench 5x5 @ 80-90% of 5rm
    Barbell Row 5x5

    Tuesday: Recovery
    Squat 2x5 @ 80% of Mon
    Press 3x5 @ 80-90% of 5rm
    Pull-up 3x12

    Thursday: Intensity
    Squat 3-5rm
    Bench 3-5rm
    Deadlift 3-5rm

    I want to add:
    More rows
    Chin ups
    Lateral raises
    Shrugs
    Curls
    Extensions

    All for 3x10-12

    [Shrugs.. bar is already loaded]

I'm not sure that more rows are needed, but you could alternate weekly rows/shrugs on intensity day... maybe make Monday rows lighter, and Friday rows heavier. Do an AMRAP set of chins after your pullups on recovery day.

If adding 3x10-12 curls or lateral raises is going to make or break you recovery wise, you have bigger issues than where to slot your fluff exercises.

It should/(does) not matter where you put them.

Yeah, definitely. To be clear, that's not what I understood him to mean by his original question about bringing up weak points. If you're talking about some super light isolation stuff, just tack it on to whatever days you make it through your real work and still have time. If you're talking about lots of DL and squat variants, I think my original advice was on point.

    I agree.

Or shurgs as hamburgerman would say. Those are also heavy and should be considered.

Doing curls, affects my chinups if I do chins 2 days later.

Then, like Tom said, you likely have a bigger issue. And in this case, I'd wager that your "bigger issue" is recovery.
