It is quite demoralizing to see these, yes. I'll be sticking to my BW power cleans, tyvm. Thank you for ruining my night.
I can't say why, but I get a kick out of watching vids of big power cleans. It's just raw power off the ground. There really arent that many legit videos posted on youtube, though.
You hear stories of this or that NFL player powercleaning 350+ lbs, but I haven't seen them.
The top Olympians probably have monster powercleans too, but I don't know where to get those videos.
Here are a few impressive ones Ive dug on Youtube:
151kg by an amature olympic lifter type:

280lbs by a skinny-ass 15-year-old. Im quite jealous of this.

Where do power cleans end and squat cleans begin?
I guess I'd suggest, as a rule of thumb, that if you drop into anything that someone might call a squat, you're not doing real power cleans anymore. This works well, since some people define squat depth to be so high, that you're basically talking about catching the barbell within 8" of standing straight up.
Pat Mendes rips out a 200kg powerclean pretty nicely

They end when you squat. ie, hips break parallel.
But a novice should try to stand up straighter to take advantage of the power that must be generated by moving the bar a greater distance?
Here is Pyrros Dimas before the 1993 World Championships in Melbourne. The second lift is a power clean at 170kg. (374lbs.). He then jerks it, and then casually walks it over resting on his delts with his arms extended to put the bar on the supports so that he can squat. All this as a @ 83kg. lifter. As a bonus, the clip has Naim Suleymanoglu & Ronnie Weller snatching.
