Had my hip replacement 3 years ago, things are feeling good, I've been back to lifting for about 2 years now. My doctor always said not to run for fitness (no problem there - just short 800 m runs when needed) but recently I was cautioned to watch the weighted squats. I love squatting! It sounds like not enough research has been done in younger hip replacement victims that go back to lifting and high intensity type working out so they default to don't do it. Now it's in my head and messing with me and trying to reach a PR! Anyone out there had a hip replacement and continues to lift? Again, it feels fine, but they're recommending I stop b/c of lack of research. I don't want to stop squatting with weight if I don't have to. Any stories, recommendations out there?

    Thanks!

No direct experience with hip replacement. I heard on the Iron radio podcast I believe Ed Coan has one or two new hips and is squatting. Phil Stevens hosts the podcast and has had hip replacement and has spoken about his experiences and is still squatting. Maybe check their archives for the relevant episodes.
