Old noob looking for advice
Hi, I’m looking to get started with the novice program. I lifted Start McRoberts beginner program 30 years ago. I made a lot of progress and got some help moving into intermediate territory before stopping due to life making other plans for me.
I’m 55 now and looking to restart for a third time back at square 1.
I need to make some substitutions and wanted to be sure this was in alignment with the program.
Squats: I plan to use a marrs bar. I have shoulder ROM issues and can’t do back squats with a straight bar.
Deadlifts: I may do straight bar sumo, or I may do trap bar deadlifts. TBD.
Pull ups (when it’s time): I want to start with lay pull downs or chest supported rows with either a low pulley or an open trap bar on an incline bench.
How does this sound to people here?

Actually, I WANT to do the program, I just am not sure my ROM allows it without some considerations for types of squats and deadlifts. I was not sure if the program was adaptable around that.
