I have always seen the videos on YouTube/writing on the site where you initiate pulls from the middle of the foot instead of directly against the shin - but never really took it seriously...I know I am pretty hard headed. After watching some DVR'd olympic lifting I noticed that most of the athletes set up is nearly identical to what you describe in your videos/writing. Thus I tried it out and it has had a profound positive effect on my pulling - even in the first session I set a rep PR in the deadlift. My original ideas regarding the new set up was biased due to old school lifters that treated some aspects of pulling as law. Thanks!

If the bar is placed directly over mid-foot and the shins touch the bar, the shins will be at the correct angle to pull the bar from the floor in a vertical line. You seem to have discovered this.
