    Default Simplified Deadlift Setup

    • starting strength seminar december 2024
    • starting strength seminar february 2025
    • starting strength seminar april 2025
    Deadlifting, it seems to me as though the position produced by touching the bar with the shins is invariably correct, so long as the lifter is in balance and that the barbell is over the midfoot.

    Am I mistaken?

    Sure, its invariably correct. Unless you drop your hips. Or fail to squeeze your chest up. Or don't set your back. Or all the rest of the stuff you can get wrong and still have your shins touching the bar.

    I suspect that dropping one's hips puts the lifter out of balance, unless the bar moves.

    I believe he's confirming with Rip that Rip was, in fact, correct in his model of the deadlift.

    I suspect that I think that it seems that he's trying to further simplify something that was already as simple as it can be. Unless I'm mistaken, but I feel that I'm not.
