Should I continue to modify the deadlift?
Hi,
I spotted a while ago about using starting strength as a way to start working on my strength post elbow surgery. Sparknotes version, after being hit by a bus my elbow was played back together and I now have a loss of ROM.
I have started the program officially after taking a month to get my body used to the lifts again, making sure my elbow is not compromised by the lifts and cutting some weight from the recovery. A problem I have recently encountered is that due to the reduced ROM in elbow, my shoulder and wrist feel strained when doing the deadlift as recommended by the book. As a result, on the recommendation of my weightlifting club, I have widened my grip by about another hands width. This has helped me deal with the stress of the exercise.
Is this a change you would recommend me keeping in my routine?
